School collaborative

Working with other schools

Since the 1st August 2017, Brabourne CEP School has been a partnership member of the CARE Foundation Trust. For consultation documents, please see below.

Our school works in collaboration within a hub of other local schools in the Ashford District. Our hub is called STAR (Schools Town And Rural).

The schools within this hub are: Aldington Primary; Brabourne CE Primary; Brook Primary; Challock Primary; Chilham St Marys CE Primary; Goat Lees Primary; Lady Joanna Thornhill (Endowed) Primary; Mersham Primary; Phoenix Primary; Smeeth Primary; St Teresa’s Catholic Primary.

In our collaborative, headteachers meet termly and there are frequent meetings of subject leaders to discuss joint ventures and share good practice. Teachers and other staff also meet for moderation of work and attend an annual joint training development day.

Some of the schools within the hub have also organised joint art, music and sports events for the children to participate in.

Our school is also part of a collaborative group which includes some of the schools in STAR plus others further afield in Tenterden, Canterbury and Faversham. This group is called CARE (Collaborative Approach to Rural Education). As its name implies, it originally began as a small group of rural schools but now encompasses town schools as well.

The main difference in this group is that Governors are also actively involved and we have held joint headteacher and Governor Conferences; provided bespoke training for Governors and shared Governors in support of each other as and when required.
