This is our Y5 and Y6 class. The class teacher is Mrs Burnett and the teaching assistant is Mrs Riggs.
Our topic for this term is called ‘Stormy Seas’. We will be investigating shipwrecks and then move on to looking at weather systems and the water cycle. We plan to research different types of coasts in the UK and discover how they have changed due to erosion. By linking this in to Blue Planet, Jupiter class will also look at the impact of humans on the ocean and investigate ways to overcome issues.
The focus is Science this term is on Forces. Children will explore ways to explain that unsupported objects fall towards the Earth; identify the effects of air resistance, water resistance and friction, that act between moving surfaces and how the use of mechanisms (such as levers and pulleys) can affect the force.
Please support and encourage your child to read every night and sign their planner which they are required to bring in every day. Please do use the planner as a form of communication to myself and/or Mrs Riggs.
Homework is handed out on Friday and should be completed and brought back to school on or before the following Friday. We will be using Mathletics for Maths homework (please let us know if you have login problems).
Swimming is on Tuesday afternoons; outdoor learning is on Wednesday afternoon and PE is on Thursday and Friday. Please make sure that children bring/leave at school their kits.
